Values of Auburn North Public School

 

At the beginning of 2009, the ANPS Leadership team identified a need for clear, articulate school values.

 

The process: All staff members and parents from Harmony House were asked to submit the values that they felt were most important to our school community. Class teachers did this in conjunction with their students. The results were tallied and the values were determined. 

 

The ANPS values are:

·       RESPECT

·       FRIENDSHIP

·       KINDNESS

·       HONESTY

·       RESPONSBILITY

·       FAIRNESS

 

Values in action: The school community has embraced the six values. Teachers have been creative and imaginative when embedding values education into their programs. Students have been engaged in learning about values in the following ways:

·        Discussions

·        Role plays

·        Links to stories and children's literature

·        Games

·        Library activities

·        Homework tasks

·        Links to the Principal's Award

·        Class blogs

 

We have now linked values to our Commendation Certificates. These certificates are part of our existing student welfare policy and programs.
