2014 My School Results

Recently, school staff members, parents and members of the public have been able to access information about schools in Australia by visiting the ‘MY SCHOOL' web-site.  The most important section of the site is the section which shows each school's performances in the National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) the previous year.  The site not only shows each school's individual performances but also how their scores compare with ‘LIKE' or‘SIMILAR' schools across Australia.  Therefore, our school's scores are displayed by themselves but also in comparison to ‘like' schools across Australia.  ‘Like' schools are schools with students and parents with backgrounds similar to those in our school community.

Our school's 2014 ‘MY SCHOOL' results are truly OUTSTANDING.  Some of our results are shown below:

This Year 5 table shows that our school's Year 5 students last year significantly outperformed the average ‘like' school students across Australia in three areas and performed strongly in the other two areas.

These Year 3 and Year 5 results, where our school outperformed ‘like' schools in seven out of ten areas, demonstrate that by attending our school our K-6 students will learn more effectively, more successfully, and will learn MORE THAN IF THEY attended 90% of all our ‘like' schools.  This is an EXTRAORDINARY achievement.

I was shown other information (data) which showed that our school excels in the area of providing value-added education.  That is, our school excels in the educational growth of our students between Year 3 and Year 5 and between Year 5 and Year 7.  What this means is that if a K-6 student stays at Auburn North for at least 2 years then he or she will learn more effectively, more successfully, and will learn more than if they had attended the vast majority ofALL schools in Australia, not just ‘like' schools.

I believe that our excellent ‘My School' / NAPLAN results over the past five years are the result of a combination of factors, including our:

  1. exceptional teachers, who work so hard for our children, who are so professional in everything they do, who are totally committed to providing world's best-practice teaching and learning programs for our students, and who actively encourage you to participate in your children''s education.
  2. dynamic and inspirational leaders, who collaboratively develop exemplary K-6 and stage-based programs which result in maximised quality teaching and learning outcomes being achieved, and in our whole-school being led and managed in a manner which is a model for all schools.
  3. innovative teacher training and development programs, which ensure that our teachers continue to develop their  teaching knowledge and skills so that they continually plan, assess and evaluate their performances and those of students and then plan the most effective and successful programs to assist children exceed their full potential.
  4. delightful students, who are happy children who love coming to their school, who are motivated to try their hardest and produce not only their personal bests but to EXCEED their personal bests and who are so keen to work and behave in a way which will make their parents and teachers proud.
  5. engaged, involved and supportive parents, who have their children's health, welfare and education as their main priorities and who develop supportive, respectful relationships with our teachers and with our K-6 school.

It takes a great team to produce great achievements.  At Auburn North we have a great team of students, teachers, leaders, staff and parents.  Congratulations AUBURN NORTH TEAM.

If our teachers, students and parents continue to work together cooperatively as a team then we will realise our school's 2013-2014 Mission/Vision, and each of our K-6 students will exceed their full potential academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and creatively.
