We have had a cooking group with some of the mothers volunteering to cook something from their own cultural background. We have had Turkish lentil kofte, Lebanese homous and vine leaves, Indian chicken curry and Afghani biryani.
The best part is that we all sit down and eat the delicious food together. We often talk about healthy eating options during the preparation time. We have written the recipes down for our cook book which produced and launched in 2012. The Auburn Cultural Cuisine Cookbook" is available for $10.00 from Harmony House. We have sold approximately 150 copies.
Women are welcome to attend during school term only and the group meets between 12.00-2.30pm in Harmony House (the building of the Auburn Schools as Community Centres Project).
