The Schools as Community Centres Facilitator set up a basic maths class for some of the Afghani mothers from this school three years ago and it is still very popular. A Dari speaking teacher was employed to teach the class.
The reason it was organised was that some of the mothers had no schooling at all and some mothers had very limited formal education.
One mother said "I can now go shopping without my husband or children as I can recognise the numbers on the notes and coins."
