Each year our school has the opportunity to nominate one Year 6 student who has been an outstanding school citizen to receive the ‘Auburn Review Citizenship Award’. Ms Cortejos, Ms McGrory, Mrs Varley and Ms West found it very difficult to select just one student from Year 6 as there were many students who met the criteria for selection. However, one student stood out as being an outstanding school citizen who always demonstrated the school values. We are very proud to say that the recipient of the 2018 Auburn Review Citizenship Award was Hussain from 6H.
Hussain and his very proud family were invited to a special ceremony in Week 4, where Citizenship Awards were presented to one student from each school in Auburn. Hussain, his family and Mr Harris beamed with pride as Hussain received his trophy and posed for photographs with other award recipients. It was a very special evening that we are certain Hussain and his family will remember for a very long time.
When Hussain received his special award, the presenters read the following reflection about what made him such an outstanding school citizen. This was written by Hussain’s teachers.
“Hussain is an enthusiastic and caring student who always strives to exceed his full potential academically, emotionally, socially, physically and technologically. He is a kind and generous friend to all students and is always willing to assist his teachers and peers. He consistently demonstrates our school values of respect, responsibility, friendship, fairness, kindness and honesty.
As a sports house captain, Hussain has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills, especially when working with younger students. He has been a valued member of the PSSA Softball team. Hussain loves learning and actively encourages his peers to participate in all classroom and extra-curricular opportunities.
Hussain is a worthy recipient of the 2018 Auburn Review School Citizenship Award.”
We look forward to presenting Hussain with his trophy in front of all 3-6 students and many parents at our Presentation Day Assembly.
On behalf of the extended Auburn North family, I would like to congratulate Hussain and his family on this extraordinary achievement.
