Our school was selected to receive the ‘2019 Secretary’s School Achievement Award’ for our ‘Parents as Partners in Learning’ program.
Auburn North’s ‘Parents as Partners in Learning’ program was developed and implemented in response to research that shows when parents are involved in their children’s education students perform better at school, and in response to the desire of Auburn North parents to further develop their knowledge and skills to assist their children’s learning.
As you know, the program has involved parents participating in small group, grade-based workshops where they have worked with their children’s teachers to develop an understanding of how their children learn literacy, numeracy, and technology in their classrooms, and have developed the skills to assist their children at home with their learning.
Evidence clearly demonstrates that the ‘Parents as Partners in Learning’ program has had a profound positive impact on participating parents and has assisted their children further develop their learning.
